Cybertrol received a proposal for a batching and ultra-high temperature processing control system and prepared piping and instrumentation drawings (P&IDs) for the complete wetside process of the project, as there were none available at the time.

Challenge

The initial control system consisted of two Allen-Bradly PLC controllers for mix and blend and the UHTs and one PLC for the CIP system. It also included five Wonderware InTouch HMI computers for M&D and CIP, along with one server running Wonderware Industrial SQL Server for logging process data.

Solution

The system has grown in stages as the plant process has expanded. It now includes:

  • 14 A-B processors
  • 22 Wonderware HMI computers
  • 1 Wonderware development computer
  • 5 server computers
  • 2 network printers
  • Control of all wetside processes, bulk liq receiving, UHT/filler systems, CIP systems, and plant utility systems

Results

Cybertrol played a key role in maintaining a high standard of documentation and for the wetside control system in the facility. The control system documentation now includes over 1,300 sheets of drawings, 22,000 pages of PLC code, 190 HMI screens, and 41,000 HMI tags. Every system expansion has included detailed field as built drawings and operating manuals to allow for easier maintenance, troubleshooting, and training.
