New Control System for Chili Producer | Cybertrol Engineering

A major canned chili producer was consolidating operations into a larger production facility to produce more product at improved efficiencies.

Challenge

Relocated legacy equipment was undocumented and required new control hardware. Safety upgrades were needed on filling and sealing equipment to meet current requirements. The project included process programming of batching kettles and CIP as well as packaging line integration and conveyor control.

Solution

Cybertrol designed and built a new control system, including:

• Site studies of reused equipment to determine I/O on the equipment
• Implementation of a GuardLogix safety PLC with multiple zones on the conveyors and safe limited speed functions on the filling equipment
• Optimized CIP times on batching kettle CIP circuits

Results

Cybertrol leveraged experience with process and packaging equipment to provide a new control system that met throughput expectations. An updated safety system allowed for a more safe and flexible system for operators.
