PlantPAx in Optix | What Cybertrol Brought to Automation Fair 2025

Written by Cybertrol Engineering | Dec 17, 2025

Automation Fair 2025 provided a strong platform to demonstrate how modern process automation and manufacturing information systems can work together to enable plantwide visibility, scalability, and long-term system support.

Cybertrol’s presence throughout the week centered on practical, deployable solutions that integrate automation, visualization, MES, OT infrastructure, and enterprise systems. While the live process skid demo served as the centerpiece, additional demonstrations and technical sessions highlighted how the same integration principles extend across batch execution, manufacturing operations, and project delivery.

PlantPAx® 5.2 in FactoryTalk® Optix

Live Process Skid Demonstration

For the first time, Cybertrol featured a live process skid demo on the Automation Fair show floor, built by partner Werner and running live control logic throughout the event. The demonstration showcased PlantPAx 5.2 operating in FactoryTalk Optix, allowing attendees to see how modern visualization, advanced faceplates, and controller integration come together in a production-ready system.

Key elements of the demo included:

  • Real-time operations using FactoryTalk Optix HMI
  • PlantPAx 5.2 process objects executing live control
  • Dynamic process monitoring with advanced Optix faceplates
  • A parallel FactoryTalk® View SE installation for side-by-side comparison

Rather than focusing on conceptual screens, the demo was built around real process behavior, providing a practical view of how visualization modernization can be deployed while preserving proven control strategies.

Why It Matters

By combining flexible visualization with Cybertrol’s simulation-first integration approach, manufacturers can reduce risk, improve operator experience, and accelerate commissioning. The demo illustrated a clear path for evolving PlantPAx systems without introducing unnecessary disruption.

Closed-Loop Manufacturing Visibility

Beyond the process skid, Cybertrol demonstrated how BatchWorks, FactoryTalk Optix, and Plex MES can be integrated to support closed-loop manufacturing workflows. The demo highlighted how batch execution, visualization, and MES work together to provide visibility from production scheduling through finished goods.

New for 2025, the demonstration included real-time material consumption tracking during batch execution, enabling greater transparency, improved control, and more accurate production reporting.

Together, these demos positioned FactoryTalk Optix not only as a modern HMI platform, but also as a capable edge device supporting broader process digitization and manufacturing information integration.

Partner Solutions Session

PS14 — Pharma Contract Manufacturer Enhances Productivity and Visibility with FactoryTalk® and BatchWorks™

Cybertrol participated in a Partner Solutions session highlighting a pharmaceutical contract manufacturer that deployed a secure, centralized, and scalable control system using the FactoryTalk suite and BatchWorks™. The session focused on how integrated batch control and standardization improved productivity and visibility while supporting long-term scalability.

PSUG Summit Panel

Best Practices in Project Delivery

Tim Barthel joined a PSUG (Partner Solutions User Group) Summit panel focused on best practices in project delivery, sharing perspectives on successful execution from concept through commissioning. Discussion topics included partner selection, cross-functional alignment, and real-world project challenges raised during audience Q&A.

A Well-Rounded Automation Fair Presence

Across live demonstrations and technical sessions, Cybertrol’s Automation Fair presence reinforced a consistent message: plantwide visibility is best achieved by integrating control, visualization, and manufacturing information into a cohesive, supportable system.

The PlantPAx in FactoryTalk Optix process skid anchored that message, while the additional demos and sessions demonstrated how the same principles extend across batch execution, MES integration, and enterprise-level visibility.
